Description:

I spent quite some time to get these photos as it wouldn't keep still. It was a brilliant flash of blue flying through the forest along the little path. Euphaedra luperca, the Nigerian Blue Forester, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family.

Habitat:

I saw this butterfly on a little path quite deep in Pre-montane tropical forest. Last photo shows the nearby habitat.

I agree its range is improbable to extend so far. Wiki says there are 180 species of this genus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphaedra
How do we find which one?
The genus might be as close as you will get.

Yes Martin, that's what I thought! About the ID. It looks correct, but I couldn't find any mention of it being in Uganda, or even East Africa...
