Painted leaf beetle

Paropsis pictipennis

Description:

The Paropsis genus typically feed on Eucalyptus but this species alone is found on Ti tree. The bright yellow dotted wings gives this species its latin name meaning; 'painted - wings'. They are sometimes very common but I was surprised to easily find three so early in the season.

Habitat:

Nature reserve. Mt Lofty

Thanks Mark.
I found three easily yesterday on tea tree.
I saw many at the end of last season on the edge of the Yarra. Mt. Lofty.

I booked for Saturday 20th at 1 PM outside if sunny :)
