Mountain Bluebird

Sialia currucoides

Description:

Small bird. Blue head and wings. Short, black beak. Dark legs. Approx 6" long.

Habitat:

Can be found all over Western North America near forest edges. This one lives in Yellowstone NP near the fountain paint pots.

Notes:

The last photo is an action shot where the bluebird was attacking a chipmunk. Not sure why but it was fun to watch.
