Red smooth barked tree with green leaves and pink inflorescence

Habitat:

Along sidewalk at the Poway City Council building. Gets shade in afternoon/evening from building.

Notes:

Aka Apple of Cain, Cane Apple, Irish strawberry tree, and Killarney strawberry tree.

And Cindy, just so ya know, Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) and Madrone (Arbutus menziesii) are mostly different in their growth characteristic, and the Strawberry tree fruits are bigger. It is also commonly used in landscaping in California, where Madrone is harder to cultivate, it prefers cliff edges if it can get them.

Definitely Heath family, I'd guess Arbutus unedo, it's really commonly used in landscaping in California.
