Male has a grey cap and a grey breast with an extensive black throat-patch. Female has a pale brown cap and a buff eye-stripe. Wings of both sexes have white wing bars

Habitat:

Commonplace in gardens at all times of the year. Found in towns, villages and farmland . Although they are common, recent surveys have shown a decline in their numbers
