Oncopeltus fasciatus
Small colony comprising adults, early instars & nymphs on the leaf of a marginal plant at the edge of Radnor lake. Reverse of leaf (photo 4) shows newly molted adults & a pair of unrelated bugs.

The bright orange color of the milkweed bugs advertise their toxicity to predators. Added to the Animals with Warning Colors mission.
Thanks Carol! Unfortunately I never did manage to ID the other bugs but I thought that maybe they were pond skater nymphs.

The two bugs that apear in photo 4 are very interesting too. Do you know what they are?
I've added a further photo taken today, 3 weeks after my original spotting. The colony is still together though the vine they are on has withered & died. I had no idea that these little guys were such great parents!
