Southern Carpenter Bee

Xylocopa Micans

Description:

Large black bee. I thought that it might be a bumble bee, but it zipped around and left so quickly. Not typical of the way the bumble bees hang around.

Habitat:

Spotted in the tropical south, gulf coast of FL.

Looks like a carpenter bee, genus Xylocopa. I'm not sure which species are in FL.
