goldenrod?

Description:

These plants were 5 feet tall and the brightest yellow. People walking by called them weeds, and another guy said goldenrod. I'm not sure. They were gorgeous!

Habitat:

Night visit to the Gardens. Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Atlanta, GA outside area, full sun.

Ashley, I know I have a picture of the plant and someone suggested an ID for it...I'll hunt it down.

Behn, I agree with the subjective nature of "weeds." Example, I have been ripping out a plant mercilessly as a landscaper for years, only to discover that the few I missed are now feeding the entire neighborhood of Bluebird parents and babies this year. I will no longer be pulling them up as "weeds." I should take a picture and post on here to see what the plant is called.

I don't mind if you call crab grass a weed. Just noticed that your description sort of implies that this spotting is either a weed or goldenrod, when it could be both in the eyes of the right person.

The word "weed" is completely subjective. It just means "I don't want it here". One person's "weed" is another person's Goldenrod.
