Spotting

Description:

Big is an understatement. This fella was huge, measuring in at about 18 centimeters from its long side. I have never seen the likes of it before, any help would be amazing!! I wish I could of taken better shots, but small worm-like creatures crawling up my arm were making me uneasy.

Habitat:

Growing alone, at an altitude of about 6,500 feet. Highly infested with maggots and other insects, in a mixed conifer forest, near a shallow creek.

Notes:

Gills are free, the stipe was bare, and a strong odor was definitely present. Flesh somewhat crumbly. The dimensions are as follows: Cap diameter, 18 cm; stipe width, 4 cm; stipe height, 11 cm; total fruit height, 13 cm. Looks like bread.
