Spotted this Western Spotted Cucumber Beetle on a dandelion plant while I was walking in Aquatic Park, Berkeley, CA. I usually see the yellow ones and this is my first green one.

That is so interesting Jean. I have been fortunate and the yellow ones here in Emeryville only ate my sunflower petals--they never touched my cukes or anything else in my garden.

I've never seen yellow ones, Misako, but we have TONS of green ones here in Sonoma County. The name, as far as I'm concerned, though, is a misnomer because these guys eat not only cucumbers but tomatoes, squash, corn, spinach, chard, bell peppers, etc. etc. etc.!
