Smooth Newt

Lissotriton vulgaris

Description:

The Smooth Newt, also known as the Common Newt, Lissotriton vulgaris (formerly Triturus vulgaris) is the most common newt species of the Lissotriton genus of amphibians. L. vulgaris is found throughout Europe except the far north, areas of Southern France, and the Iberian peninsula.

Habitat:

My parents garden, near the city of Münster, Germany.

Notes:

We found him while working in the garden. He was sitting under a stone we lifted. I took him to a better place, where no one would disturb him.
