Melanistic Two-Spotted Ladybug

Adalia bipunctata

Description:

This is a melanic form of the Two-Spot Ladybug. It can be distinguished from the black variant of Harmonia axyridis by its smaller size and two white dots on the eyes. Since it has six red spots, I believe it is called a sexpustulata melanic form.

Habitat:

Wild fennel plants along a fence next to Bank of America parking lot, Emeryville, CA.
