Passiflora alata
Bold blooming, colorful Passion Flower
Spotted in patio of biology classroom in Poway, CA
This pretty flower is almost the size of the palm of my hand, it closes at night and opens in the morning when it looks its best! It is naturally grown in eastern Peru and originates from Brazil. It blooms during the fall unlike most flowers that do in the spring. I used a Canon G12 for this photo, it's a point and shoot so no special lenses. The beauty is all in the flower.
It has a lot of colours. It looks like a mandala. It is like an optical illusion. It is very colourful and beautiful.

Thank you so much for sharing!! This is one of my favorite flowers. I've tried growing some, but I always plant them too late and never get to see the flowers.
that first pic makes want to live in there. like it was a giant roof or something.
