Scelarcis perspicillata
Small, flattened very agile lizard, about 6 to 7 cm in body-length, and about 15cm snout-to-tailtip. The body is brown-green with orange-ish round spots, while the tail is grey-green.
Seen few times close to houses in dwellings on rocky terrains around Imlil, in Atlas mountain range of Morocco. These villages are located in protected area of NP Jbel Toubkal (or on borders - that was not very clear...), on steep bushy slopes of Atlas mountains, and surrounded by mediterranean type of forests. We observed these lizards often sunning on doorsteps, walls, terraces or isolated and exposed rocks.
This species is endemic to Morocco and Algeria (but was introduced to some mediterranean islands) and a lifer for me!

“Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!”
