Tropical Chestnut

Sterculia foetida

Description:

I spotted some empty seed pods on the ground and then looked up to see this tree. I have only seen the one tree and have absolutely no idea what it is. The seed pods are very hard.

Not 100% sure if this spotting qualifies for Fruiting bodies of the World

I have no idea Alice the pods were empty on the floor so I don't know if they were nuts inside. The photos are not great as I cropped them back in 2008 when I originally spotted the tree.
