Lycoperdon perlatum
It is a species of puffball mushroom in the Agaricaceae family. 4 cm diameter and 5 cm tall. It is white with short spiny bumps on top, which are easily rubbed off. When mature they become brown and a hole in the top opens to release spores in a burst when the body is compressed by raindrops, a touch, falling nuts, etc. It grows in fields, gardens, along roadsides, and in grassy clearings in woods. The puffball is edible when young. Laboratory tests indicate that extracts of the puffball have antimicrobial and antifungal activities. The spanish name "cuesco de lobo" means "wolf's fart"
I found it in an opening close to a walking path in a pine-trees and Holm oaks open forest.
