Description:

Black and white wing feathers with a greenish belly and a bright red head.

Habitat:

Two blocks from an Exito store this woodpecker is on the edge of a small city park in the large Colombian city of Medellin. This is about the mid-altitudes of Colombia, not hot and tropical like the coast but not nearly so cold and rainy as the capital.
