Indian Paintbrush highlight the Amphitheatre at Trappers Lake, elevation 9600ft. In 1920, at the recommendation of surveyor Arthur Carhart, Trappers Lake was set aside from development by the US Forest Service. It is an act, considered by many, to be the beginning of what is now known as the US Wilderness Area system

Habitat:

Indian Paintbrush can be found in the western parts of North, Central and South America from Alaska south to the Andes. They also live in Northern Asia with one species living as far west as the Kola Peninsula of Siberia.
