Carduelis tristis
Goldfinches breed late in the summer, hen thistle down is available for their tightly woven nests. The mother of this young Goldfinch was trying to teach her baby (shown) how to eat from a finch feeder. The baby never quite got it. It kept on moving its wings and singing a pretty song to get its mom's attention.
Farmlands, weedy fields.
