Small nudibranch 3-4 cm long. Has black background with elongated white/light-colored areas enclosing yellow nodules.

Habitat:

Near shore tropical waters; coral reef ecosystem.

Notes:

Spotted offshore of Leeward Oahu. Month and day are notional; year is known with certainty. Possibly Phyllidia varicosa. Original medium photoprint; slightly overexposed; photo taken with Nikonos III using close-up kit and flash; print subsequently scanned and image saved as digital file.
