Short-horned Grasshopper

Unidentified Acrididae

Description:

This is a grasshopper from the family Acrididae, easily recognised because of the short (and rather thick) antennae. However, beyond that, I am uncertain of the identification. The two possibilities which I have in mind are Valanga sp. and Melicodes tenebrosa.

Habitat:

Spotted on an unidentified leafy plant in our backyard.
