Turtle Tracks in Mud

Description:

Not having seen the creature that left these interesting impressions in the mud puddle along the road, I cannot say with 100% certainty however I do believe these to be turtle tracks. The mud is soft and pliable here, and the marks are not very distinct -- although you can see the impressions made by claws as well as a clean drag mark made by the tail. Although it's probably impossible to identify the species, I would guess this was made by an Eastern box turtle.

Notes:

Spotted in a mud puddle along Gilbert Rd / Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield
