Orange Spotted newt

Notophthalmus viridescens

Description:

About 3" long, this orange spotted newt is traveling about this peice of wood, either to avoid me at some points, or to walk towards the reflection of my lens. A very stricking critter, not used to being out and about in the sun! This was discovered in my backyard in NB, near my shed.

Habitat:

Under moist peices of rocks, wood, or moss. Sometimes caught walking out at night.

Notes:

Not sure if you notice, but in the first photo there is a spider sitting there blurred in background basking as I take photos. haha.

Thanks so much everyone for the compliments! I just changed the first photo, as I just found a photo from the same spotting in one of my folders, it seems a wolf spider(lycosa sp.) decided to stop by and take a bask while I was shooting. Very cute!
