Description:

"This is a very popular ornamental flowering tree in subtropical and tropical climates. It is from the family Fabaceae, native to southeastern Asia, from southern China west to Pakistan and India."

Habitat:

Growing as an ornamental in a semi-urban garden in the equatorial tropics.

Notes:

The leaves are reportedly edible and the bark, flowers, bulbs and roots are said to have various medicinal properties. Parts of the plant can be used as an alterative, anthelmintic, astringent, and tonic among other uses.
