Black Vulture

Coragyps atratus

Habitat:

wetlands and urban/suburban settings.

Notes:

Found here at Anhinga Trail in the Everglades in large numbers, and very used to people. (they let you get very close) Do a lot of jostling for pecking order with grunts and barks. A bit of a nuisance in the parking lot where they can damage cars by pecking out the foam rubber around the doors and scratching the roof/hood paint.
