One of two box turtles native to Oklahoma. Identified by the three toes on hind legs, as opposed to 4 toes on other pond turtles and box turtles.
Commonly found throughout Oklahoma around farm ponds, lakes and streams. Common to woodlands.
Frequently seen crossing roads and highways in the late spring and early summer.
