cattle egrets

Bubulcus ibis

Description:

Small white heron found in the tropics, sub tropics and warm temperate zones

Habitat:

with cattle, where they eat small organisms scared up by cow hooves. In turn, the egrets eat ticks and external parasites and may serve as early warning systems for the herds they follow: especially in places where there are large predators

Notes:

This was about as close to a cattle egret as I got although they were literally everywhere cattle were

I love them too. I really enjoyed seeing them in Costa Rica this year and in Kenya last year. I miss seeing them at home, having moved too far North

I love the interaction between cattle and egrets. Thanks for the pictures!
