Stinging Nettle

Urtica dioica

Description:

About 30 cm tall now, in early spring. Will grow to 1-3 meters tall. Opposite, spiky leaves with fine hairs. Leaves can be used to make a spring tonic and are edible in early spring. Native people used the fibers for fish nets.

Habitat:

Rich soil, sunny Western light, well drained, wet area.

one time I ate a stinging nettle and ended up in the emergency room for like, five hours.
I had mine raw.

they are a interesting plant though.
