Bird of Paradise

Strelitzia reginae

Description:

The Bird of Paradise was named according to the resemblance it bears to brightly colored birds in flight. It is said to be toxic to dogs, cats, and horses, but harmless to humans.

Habitat:

The plant does best when grown in rich soil and can also be grown near the ocean in gardens. The Bird of Paradise does really well in full sunlight but can also be grown in lightly shaded areas.
