Triangular Spider

Arkys walckenaeri

Description:

A very attractive orange-peach coloured spider with two eyes on top of its head and an impressively patterned and coloured triangular abdomen. Approx 10mm.

Habitat:

On the bark of Pinus Radiata within tall eucalyptus forest (Dandenong Ranges)

Notes:

This spider was 'captured' by a smaller pholcidae which bit it a few times on a rear leg and it stopped moving. It then started to wrap the orange spider up in silk at which point my wife tried to extricate it with a stick - nature is a wonderful thing! http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...

Great shot! It looks just like the spider in my photo except this poor one is the prey instead of the predator. Apple suggested an ID of mine, looks pretty spot on.
