Chinese Mantid

Tenodera sinensis

Description:

Also called the chinese praying mantis. It is the largest mantis species in North America.

Habitat:

This Chinese Mantid was spotted on a bike path in Davis, West Virginia. In fact, it was directly on the path and we moved it out of harms way.

Hi Mary, this mantis looks more like a Tenodera species. This is very likely a Chinese Mantis, Tenodera sinensis. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1573...
