This fugus was attached to the side of a large Tawa and on closer inspection there were insects living in a small hole on the bottom of the fungus. I thought it was a bracket fungus, but it is relatively soft.

The top is pretty much the same as the bottom.
Podoserpula pusio ?
Good one. No gills or pores underneath?. Wonder what the top looks like.
