Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

Halyomorph halys

Description:

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is its common name and is part of the kingdom Animalia, and the phylum Arthropoda, class insecta, order hemiptera, family pentatomidae, genus halyomorpha, and the species halys. These Brown stink bugs show a variety brown in color on their bodies. This helps them camouflage in their environment. The one I saw was approximately 1/2 inch long and 1/4 inch wide. They have six legs and can fly.

Habitat:

They live in North America and can typically be found as the temperature begins to drop. The originally were brought to North American by accident and came from Asia.

Notes:

My name is Kathlene Hurtado and I spotted this stink bug on my husbands shoulder when we were at Bush Gardens. I have been seeing them everywhere the past few weeks and had no clue what they were until now.
