Ram's Horn

Planorbidae

Description:

Beautiful tiny snail in a pond. These air breathing snails, sometimes called wheel snails, are distributed worldwide in ponds or slow moving streams with abundant plant life. I found this one unusual with the second growth at the the end of the whorl where it flairs open.

Habitat:

slow moving ponds or rivers

Notes:

the background is my shoe
