Paropsisterna annularis
A brightly coloured beetle about 6 or 7 mm long. There were two prominent specks of gold on each elytron and two other paler ones nearer the apices- the last 6 specks of gold form a ring or "annulus" (pic 2), hence the specific name. Segmented antennae were held out.
Spotted on a Red Box Eucalyptus tree in a nature reserve.
This is one of the most attractive leaf beetles I've seen. My thanks to MartinL with his help in spotting this gem and for the ID.

@Martin, I can see the difference between P.gloriosa and this one, just as you described the yellow spots.
@Charlie, I do hope you see this one - not sure if it's specifically found on Red Box (Eucalyptus polyanthemos) and if you've got the species in Tassy - Martin might know.
