Luzon Grass Dart

Taractrocera luzonensis luzonensis

Description:

Hesperiidae; Hesperiinae; Taractrocera luzonensis luzonensis Staudinger 1889. "Taractrocera luzonensis is a butterfly of the family Hesperiidae. It is found from south-western Burma and northern Thailand through Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and the Philippines to Sulawesi and neighbouring islands." Wikipedia. The Wiki article goes on to list the 6 subspecies and, of course T. l. lusonensis is the one we have here in the Philippines.

Habitat:

Spotted darting around on a small grassy patch of uncultivated land shaded by some citrus trees. This little patch of grasses and sundry other weeds is just off the end of the road leading to our old farmhouse. Our relatives who live there know not to interfere with this little wild oasis because it is one of my favourite "hotspots" for bugs.
