Holes by woodpeckers

perhaps Dendrocopos major

Description:

woodpeckers are living from different invertebrates, that live in tres. So they bore holes ino the wood to reach them. These holes can ofen be seen on older or ill trees, for they are full of larvae and insects and ohter invertebrates.

Habitat:

These holes were found in the hills surrounding my home village. I think, they come from Great Spotted Woodpeckers, they are very common in that region.
