Anhinga anhinga
This bird had an incredibly flexible neck, it could twist it round in all directions. When swimming, the neck is out of the water, and seems to move backwards and forwards like a snake. Hence the name. The Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga), sometimes called Snakebird, Darter, American Darter, or Water Turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird.
