Description:

"Our most common and familiar Goose. Black head and neck marked with distinctive white "Chin strap" stretching from ear to ear. U-shaped rump band; and long neck. The approximately seven named subspecies vary in overall color, generally darker in the west; ranges from pale 'canadensis' of the Eastern Seaboard to dark 'Occidentalis', which breeds on the Eastern Gulf of Alaska Coast." Habitat:

Found one pair of these birds at the Southeast Water Recharge Pond at Chandler Veteran's Desert Oasis Park in Chandler, Arizona.
