Similar, but yours looks more fine lobed with more divisions in the "leaf" than mine and I found no reference to it being in the states - although I suppose it could have been brought over from Scotland somehow along with the gorse and broom.

You gave me a direction to look. Thank you. Now if I can find the other one I posted

check Cladonia foliacea, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/...
but I dont' know if the dimensions are correct.
It is just wild guess
