Parasola plicatilis
Dark gray mushroom with white stalk, ~ 60 mm tall, with cap ~ 65 mm in diameter and stem diameter of 2-3 mm.
Suburban neighborhood on tropical upland plateau.
Spotted in an unmaintained area beside a paved walk in a suburban development. This individual was so thin it appeared to have gills on its upper side. It also had physical damage in a couple of place; perhaps it had been dined on.
The only other mushrooms, that I know that would resemble this one, are Parasola plicaatilis and auricoma... Maybe it's worth checking these out.
Vlad, thanks for the suggestion. You could be correct, but I'm not certain.
I've done some checking and discovered two things that make me hesitant to agree with you.
First, appearance: Online images of Coprinopsis cinerea show a white spot in the center of the cap, which is not present in this spotting.
Second, life cycle: Apparently the cap of Coprinopsis cinerea deliquesces rather quickly after emergence. This spotting showed no signs of dissolving into black ink.
