Ana del Sur

Yramea cytheris

Description:

A very easy to observe butterfly, overall orange with black spots. The underside has very accented differences between male and female.

Habitat:

Often found resting on the ground. The genus Yramea is found only in the Andes and south temperate region of South America. It remains somewhat of a biogeographic enigma, but recent phylogenetic work promises to shed light on the evolutionary history of this group.
