Hirundo ariel
Small, swift bird of open areas, grey/brown above, mottled head with touches of rufous colour, flecks of dark brown finely patterned under chin over white, white chest. long sharply tapered wings and tail, small beak appearing wide gape when viewed front-on.
Found throughout much of Australia except some very northern areas and small portions of extremely arid zones. Builds nests of mud under bridges, on buildings, cliff overhnags and entrances to caves or tunnels. Southern birds known to migrate north at certain times of year.
