Psitteuteles versicolor
This is a small pale green parrot. It is the only one with a red cap and distinctive white rings round the eyes. It has a lime green ear patch, blue around the neck and pink on chest. The female is duller with olive green cap.
There was a small flock of about 6 birds that flew into the tree in the pics. I don't know what tree it is but it was right on the bank of the wetlands.
This was the first time I have ever seen these little parrots. I was sitting on the bank of the wetlands and noticed them fly in and perch in that tree. As it was already quite warm and coming up towards midday I decided to continue sitting there because I figured they would eventually come down for a drink...and they did :) My first reference for identification: The Michael Morcombe eGuide to Australian Birds, Mobile App. Second reference: http://www.ozanimals.com/Bird/Varied-Lor...
