Emperor gum moth

Opodiphthera eucalypti

Description:

These tiny caterpillars are the second instar larva of the large and showy emperor moth. The mature caterpillar is vivid green and spectacular. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/165...

Habitat:

Eggs found on red box leaf in a nature reserve. Eggs are found occasionally but larvae are very scarce. I have taken these eggs to breed them out.

There are about 15 eggs but some were non starters and I think there are about 12 passed the first molt. They survive very well after first molt.
I am breeding wood whites anyway and they take a fair bit of work until Christmas. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/393...
