Chroicocephalus ridibundus
Small white gull, up to 40cm in length. Portrayed here is adult ini winter plumage, having the white head, black ear spot and some traces of blackish on crown too. The bill is dark red with a large black tip. Feet dark red. The adult in summer plumage acquires a striking dark-chocolate-brown hood, covering the entire head, but not the neck.
Here, seen in marshy lands and small salty lakes of Embiez island, French Mediterranean riviera.
