A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
An educator hoping to nurture, and instill upon my students, a love of nature and science!
Sign In to followThank you Neil and Tukup. Tukup, I think the "fun facts" section on the All About Birds site is a relatively new feature. I don't believe it has always been a part of the information they include on each species. I also started an Instagram account for my students in order to post the wondrous things we find in nature at our campus. I thought that using a "fun facts" posting would be a quick and fun way to draw attention and educate people about the importance of nature and all of its'amazing aspects. Thanks again!! The students and I love Project Noah!
That's a interesting find. We had fun learning about the history of this bird!

Okay, Roy and Brian I am asking for more assistance. I was in the process of updating the spotting, but I could not get over the fact that in the one photo that shows the back of the bird it appears to me to have a green tint to its' feathers. In my research I could not find a Great Crested flycatcher that has this feature. I have several more photos that show the bird having the same coloring on the wings. I am now wondering if it could be a Couch's Kingbird. The physical characteristics are the same. The recorded calls I listened to were very similar to the Great Crested flycatcher. The Tropical Kingbird is also very similar, but the call did not match what we heard and San Antonio is not in its normal range. Now I am very confused. :) Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you both Brian and Roy. Yes, after a bit more research, and listening to recorded calls on a few sites I have to agree with you both. I will update the spotting. Thanks again for the input. The students and I really enjoyed having it visit us at our classroom window, and then seeing a pair out at recess!
