A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I'm a naturalist in a sense. I will only post what I photograph in it's natural environment.
West Seattle, Wa.
Beautiful spotting ...... Congratulations!
great spottings ..... look forward to seeing more. Welcome to Project Noah.
GORGEOUS !!!!!
I am almost 100% sure this is a member of the Bolete family. Not sure of the species that grow in your area but it might be of some help for you to find out.
no yellow hairs on the underside. Thanks for the ID Cindy!!!!
they do, but are a bit too thick. that's what's throwing me off. I'll find it eventually.
thanks ...... these grow EVERYWHERE here! most people don't notice them till the cold weather when they bloom.
@clive ..... I keep a couple of containers of silica gel at the house to quickly dry my shrooms if i can't get to them right away. It helps to keep the color right and maintains the shape better than regular drying. I could post pictures of some of the Helvella's I dried so you can see. It wouks great with gilled mushrooms too.
this is quite close to the "Coastal Lichen" we have growing here ....... as per the link below, I agree with Arlanda.
