A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I am pretty sure it is a magnolia but no idea which species in particular.
These ones are part of a world class breeding program at the zoo to ensure that they are around for generations to come. While I agree that being in the wild is better for them individually, until humans learn to respect them and their environment, there are not many other options at this point that will even allow them to exist as a species for any great length of time.
I would totally agree with that assessment as well. They are some very amazing birds!

Thanks! I just happened to notice him out of the corner of my eye when I was at the zoo when I was taking pictures of some uncooperative peacocks!
