Yes, the red top looks like the Clathrus crispus Stinkhorn,
but the stalk...I don't know...

In order to identify mushrooms accurately, since there are so many varieties...some are poisonous...some delicious...it is necessary to look at the gills,stalk and if it has a ring on the stalk...also a spore print is helpful...those are really pretty...

as kids we called those Devil's snuff box...then we'd stomp on 'em and a cloud of spores would fly up...not very scientific, huh?

look at the Destroying Angel I just posted half hour ago...I found it today...It is the most deadly of all the mushrooms...

I have read, but have no practical experience, removing the warts will remove the poisonous part, which is supposed to be stychnine.

every snake I saw in my book that looks like that marking, isn't supposed to be in your area...unless some person turned it loose there...
